Poor Becka. Today she got an expander put in her mouth as the first phase of her orthodontic treatments. She has a cross bite, and this appliance is expanding her jaw to get it in the proper position. The little thing on the bottom is the "key" that I have to use to turn the expander twice each day in order to move her teeth out. It is painful for her, but she won't take any sort of medicine, so she is suffering more than she needs to. She has to wear the expander for a few months, but we only have to turn it for ten days. She also has a retainer type thing on her bottom teeth. Poor kid can't chew, can't swallow without concentrating on it and can't talk right. Hopefully she gets used to it quickly!!

I am sorry Becka, I remember the days of my braces and they were not fun, just think you will have pretty teeth after this. Hopefully you will be able to adjust quickly to the new thing in your mouth. Love ya.
